Statistically, patients under the care of NPs have higher patient satisfaction, fewer unnecessary hospital readmissions, fewer potentially preventable hospitalizations and fewer unnecessary emergency room visits than patients under the care of physicians.

Medication can play an important role in the management of psychiatric disorders. Medication is a tool and is not meant to be curative. Psychiatric medications can reduce symptoms and prevent relapses of mental health disorders.

Medication management is the primary service provided at Hygge Behavioral Health & Wellness. There is a significant lack of behavioral health prescribers in our county, as is the case in many areas. Our providers are committed to utilizing the safest, most appropriate psychopharmacological interventions for each client.

It is our goal to provide quality education, assessment and evaluation for clients who may benefit from medication to address mental health concerns. 

The Nurse Practitioners at Hygge Behavioral Health & Wellness are able to provide supportive talk therapy in addition to medication management services.

We are pleased to offer counseling services with a Licensed Professional Counselor or Social Worker, as well. Due to the high need for therapy only services, the wait list for these Clinicians may be lengthy.

Both of our Clinicians are trained in trauma therapy techniques, including EMDR. ​

​Telemedicine is the process of providing health care from a distance through technology, often using videoconferencing.

Appointments at Hygge Behavioral Health may be done in person or, if necessary, remotely via tele-health.

Although we encourage in-person sessions, video-based telepsychiatry helps meet patients’ needs for convenient, affordable and readily-accessible mental health services.

Pharmacogenetic testing looks at specific genes to help figure out the types of medicines and dosages that may be right for you. It is important to understand the limitations of this testing. There are multiple factors that contribute to how medications function in the body, but pharmacogenetic testing provides some insight into this one aspect. Ask your provider if they utilize this type of testing and can answer any questions you may have.
